English Language Arts

Outcome:

By June 2024, students in grades 1-3 demonstrating 'on-grade-level' reading ability as measured by iReady assessment (iReady screener and WRF/PRF) will increase by at least 5 percentage points from fall to spring.

Strategies

  • Expand use of independent practice with a variety of texts (e.g., decodable, nonfiction, fiction) and meaningful tasks (e.g., Lexia, writing about reading). 

  • Increase use of data (e.g., iReady, CORE, PASS, PRF, WIDA) to plan instruction and monitor progress for students demonstrating risk.

Mathematics

Outcome

By June 2024, 85% of students in grades 1-6 will meet Spring iReady math screener benchmarks.

Strategies  

  • Improve teachers’ implementation of Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.

  • Increase teachers implementation strategies related to Shift 4: from show and tell to share and compare.

School Selected

Outcome

By June 2024, 65% of respondents on a family engagement survey will agree that they receive enough information at home to help their child improve their learning.

Strategies

  • Teachers will provide quarterly communication in the areas of math, reading and wellness/behavior for each student using a consistent school-based template.

  • Oak View will provide at least three opportunities for families to engage in partnerships in the areas of language arts, math, POG, and wellness.
